Jayamardhanda Sweets Gift Box

In the history of Mysore Dasara, the honor of being the first elephant to carry the ambari belongs to Jayamarthanda. Jayamarthanda was captured during the reign of his Highness Krishnadevaraya Wodeyar near Bettadapura in Periyapatna and soon became Maharaja's favourite. Starting from Vijayadashami during the Wodeyar era, this elephant carried the royal ambari on which the Maharajas would sit for 45 years (1870-1915). Jayamarthanda remained dearly loved by the Maharajas and its name has become permanent in history.
